Third quarter activity at the Waterloo Regional Airport was up from the same period in 2015.
Airport officials reported 6,469 outbound passengers used the airport for both business and leisure travel during the months of July through September this year, an increase of 179 passengers over the same quarter last year.
Airport Director Keith Kaspari said in a news release, “This quarterly report continues the progress that the airport had seen in previous reports”.
“The increased numbers of passengers using the airport reflects that the numbers are continuing an upward trend, which is continued good news for both business and leisure passengers located in Waterloo, Cedar Falls and throughout the Greater Cedar Valley Region.”
Kaspari said he was optimistic for a good fourth quarter of the calendar year.
He added, “Looking at the increases over the last 24-month time frame is especially gratifying and indicates that residents throughout the Cedar Valley region are recognizing that they’re willing to continue the support of their hometown and regional airport while the airport makes slow but steady progress in continuing to reverse the unfortunate leakage to larger regional airports”.
