Developers of Pinewood Forrest, slated to be the first large-scale development next to a film studio in the state, will release the first residential lots to prospective buyers Friday.
Pinewood Forrest is one of the biggest real estate ventures on Atlanta’s south side. Developers, including Chick-Fil-A CEO Dan Cathy, plan to create a mini-city on the former farmland across Veterans Parkway from Pinewood Studios. Developers hope it will include hotels, restaurants, shops, office space and about 1,300 homes and apartments.
The idea is to attract all kinds of people to the area, including those working in the state’s film industry.
Gov. Nathan Deal recently talked about the $7 billion impact Georgia’s film studios are having on the state.
“We say we’re still behind California and New York, but I understand we’re nipping on California’s heels, and if their tax policies and regulatory policies continue as they are, we’re seeing people migrate from California here in the film industry rapidly every year as we see that transition,” said Deal.
