Bitcoin at $26,500 ahead of key Fed macroeconomic event

The biggest crypto currency had hit $26,880 two days back, this marking its highest levels of the month so far

Bitcoin hovered around $26,500 into the September 17 weekly close after new September highs paved the way to calmer conditions.

Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView showed BTC price performance steadying over the weekend.

The biggest crypto currency had hit $26,880 two days back, this marking its highest levels of the month so far.

Summing up the state of the Binance BTC/USD order book, popular trader and analyst Credible Crypto noted that a cluster of bid liquidity was lifting the market.

Some seller absorption happening here- this level being defended atm, Credible Crypto wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Amid consolidatory movement, fellow trader Crypto Tony eyed two possible scenarios — with $26,000 still holding as support nonetheless.

I am still looking for that dip down to $26,100 and a jump for a long trigger, he told X subscribers on the day.

Either that or if we just regain $26,600 highs I will look to long, he added.

Looking closely at exchange behaviour, trader Skew underlined short-term trends among traders, with spot entities selling into bounces.

Beyond the weekly close, crypto market participants were avidly awaiting the coming week’s key macroeconomic event from the US Fed.

The FOMC meeting on September 20 is set to decide benchmark interest rates, with markets strongly expecting them to remain unchanged.

CME Group’s FedWatch Tool put the odds of a surprise scenario at just 2%.

As Cointelegraph reported, nevertheless, Bitcoin has recently cooled its instinctive response to macro data prints, and going into FOMC, some believed that the status quo would stay.

Next week the Federal Open Market Committee and Interest Rate decisions should induce some volatility, but BTC will likely continue to trade within $25k – $27k in the short-term, Crypto Santa concluded.
