Bitcoin surpasses $30,000 for first time since June 2022

The largest crypto currency was recently trading at $30,237, 6.75 per cent higher over the past 24 hours

Bitcoin surpassed the $30k mark for the first time since June 10, 2022 as March’s banking turmoil waned further and investors grew more bullish about U.S. Fed’s monetary policy.

The biggest crypto currency in terms of market capitalization was recently trading at $30,237, 6.75 per cent higher over the past 24 hours.

The market is pricing a growth slowdown, and subsequently a monetary policy loosening by the Fed during 2023, according to Richard Mico, the U.S. Chief Executive Officer and chief legal officer of Banxa, which provides payment-and-compliance infrastructure for crypto.

There will probably still be a lot of liquidity injected into the market as a result, Mico further said. Already, Bitcoin has been the best-performing asset of 2023, and it generally reacts most quickly and violently to these types of monetary shifts, he said.

Bitcoin last topped $30k on June 10, 2022 on its way down to below $20k, where it stayed during large parts of late that year and into the initial weeks of 2023. It has been staying near $28k for last three weeks as cautious investors measured the effect of banking failures, inflationary pressures and other macroeconomic factors. Bitcoin is nearly 80 per cent higher YTD after beginning 2023 at around $16,600.

The crypto soared in January amid signs that inflation was fading, held back in February but then recouped in late March after the failure of Silicon Valley and Signature banks as some investors questioned the present monetary system and regained their appetite for assets that hold their value. Gold has also lately spiked, topping $2k for the first time since 2020.

Mico noted that there is definitely a narrative shift taking place because of the banking turmoil that is feeding into Bitcoin’s momentum. Growingly, Bitcoin is also being viewed as a dependable store of value that lacks the issues associated with storing your money through a third-party intermediary, or a bank, Mico said. Bitcoin is now properly starting to be viewed as a risk-off asset.

De-dollarization is also growingly becoming part of the narrative, which is further speeding up Bitcon adoption, he said. With Bitcoin, in short, you are your own bank. It is hard to make forecasts because of the volatility of late, but I would not be surprised if this stimulus concerning Bitcoin continues.
