Fundraising match continues through Oct. 31 to bring Chinese opera group to Fort Wayne

by Jonathan Adams

The renowned Taizhou Luantan Opera company from Fort Wayne’s sister city of Taizhou, China, will make its U.S. performance debut here, but Fort Wayne Sister Cities International can use your help to make it happen.

Bringing the Taizhou opera company to Fort Wayne is one of three Amplify Art! Crowdfunding projects announced recently by Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne. The goal for the Taizhou opera project is $5,000 (£4,071.46). Through Oct. 31, donations will be matched dollar for dollar, up to $1,500 (£1,221.44), by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. To donate, go to http://artsunited.org/amplify.

Crowdfunding donations will be used to pay for opera company members’ housing, food, honorarium, local travel, production costs for a March 19 performance at the Embassy Theatre and other costs while the group is here March 16-25, the announcement said.
