Two of the biggest ETH liquid staking tokens – LDO and FXS – have declined steeply
The low trading volumes during the weekend have ensued in a held up bitcoin performance as the world’s largest crypto currency in terms of volume stays at nearly $28,000.
Most altcoins are a bit in the red today, while two of the biggest ETH liquid staking tokens – LDO and FXS – have declined steeply.
The working week brought a lot of volatility, specifically its beginning when bitcoin tumbled after the fake news around Binance and its Chief Executive Officer. As it turned out that Interpol had not in fact issued a Red Notice on Changpeng Zhao (CZ), bitcoin recuperated all declines and even went toward $29,000.
Although, the asset failed to reach that mark and was stopped $200 short of it. The resulting failure led it further down, and bitcoin dropped below $28,000 just a few days afterwards.
Since then, it has not been able to rebound significantly and trades in a tight range between $27,800 and $28,200. The last 24 hours were no different, and bitcoin currently stays just beneath $28,000.
Its market capitalization has dropped beneath $540 billion, while its superiority over the altcoins has recovered somewhat and stays at just more than 46 per cent.
Ethereum was among the top performers during the week, which resulted in exceeding $1,950 for the first time in nearly eight months. Though, ETH failed to continue that run and has dropped by more than $100 since then, presently trading below $1,850.
Two of the most popular ETH liquid staking tokens – LDO and FXS – have posted even bigger notable losses today. Both assets are nearly 8 per cent lower to $2.32 and under $9, respectively.
Most larger-cap altcoins are in the red as well, although to a lesser extent. This includes BNB, XRP, ADA, DOGE, MATIC, SOL, DOT, LTC, SHIB, and AVAX – all of which have declined by up to 3 per cent in a day.
The total crypto market cap has lost nearly $15 billion in a day and is down to $1.170 trillion.
