KL shares remain higher

Shares on Bursa Malaysia remained higher across-the-board at mid-morning today on persistent buying in key heavyweights such as Maybank, Sime Darby and Petronas Chemicals.

At 11.08am, the benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,751.25, 6.05 points better from last Friday’s close of 1,745.2.

Earlier, the index opened 1.13 points weaker at 1,744.07.

On the broader market, gainers outpaced decliners 480 to 338, while 351 counters unchanged, 542 untraded and 16 others suspended. Turnover was high at 2.68 billion shares worth RM1.01 billion (£0.18 billion).

Of the heavyweights, Maybank rose eight sen to RM8.98 (£1.63), Sime Darby added one sen to RM9.35 (£1.70) and Petronas Chemicals was two sen better at RM7.45 (£1.36).
