Meta is building its 30th data centre in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin (U.S.), designed specifically to support advanced artificial intelligence operations.

The company announced the new facility will be optimized for expanding AI workloads and will support Meta’s growing fleet of AI infrastructure. The Beaver Dam location was selected for its reliable infrastructure access and skilled workforce availability.

Meta’s investment in the Wisconsin data centre will exceed $1 billion and create more than 100 operational jobs once complete. During peak construction, the project will employ over 1,000 skilled trade workers. The company will also fund nearly $200 million in energy infrastructure improvements, including network upgrades, utility substations, and transmission lines.

As part of its community commitment, Meta is donating $15 million to Alliant Energy’s Hometown Care Energy Fund to help local families with home energy costs. The company will also launch Data Centre Community Action Grants next fall to provide funding for schools and local organizations in Beaver Dam.

The facility will feature environmentally conscious design elements, including dry-cooling technology that eliminates water demands for cooling operations. Meta has committed to restoring 100% of water consumed by the data centre to local watersheds.

In partnership with Ducks Unlimited and other organizations, Meta is restoring 570 acres of wetlands and prairie surrounding the data centre, with nearly 175 acres being deeded to Ducks Unlimited for revitalization.

The Beaver Dam data centre will be powered by 100% clean and renewable energy and is designed to achieve LEED Gold Certification, maintaining the high efficiency standards Meta sets for all its data centres.
