St Petersburg took home a top prize for the second year in a row at this year’s World Travel Awards Europe Gala Ceremony, being recognised as Europe’s Leading Destination.
The chairman of St Petersburg’s Committee for Tourism Development, Andrey Mushkarev, received the award on behalf of Russia’s second city at the ceremony in Sardinia on 3 September.
Among the other winners were the French city of Lyon, which picked up the prize for Europe’s Leading City Break, while Rome Cavalieri, Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, was recognised as Europe’s Leading Luxury City Resort.
This year marked the 23rd edition of World Travel Awards, recognised as one of the travel industry’s most prestigious awards programmes.
