Big future transport projects could change travelling in Cambridgeshire

by Jonathan Adams

This week transport has been in the spotlight. We’ve had pleas to government not to forget about rail improvements that could unlock growth south of the city, and a competition has been launched to find a solution to the housing situation that could yet sink the Cambridge to Oxford “expressway”.

The “brainbelt” expressway linking up the UK’s two most prestigious university cities has been hailed as a route that could “benefit the entire planet”. The business and academic partnerships that could be fostered, as well as the capacity for new communities to spring up along the route, make this an attractive option for many.

Whether the link takes the form of an express motorway, or whether there are rail links installed, a better east-west connection may not be all that far away.
