MTR cross-boundary traffic lessens, Airport Express travel increases

by Jonathan Adams

In line with a drop in mainland visitor arrivals, cross-boundary traffic fell by 1.4 per cent in the first half, the MTR Corp Limited (0066) reported today.

Cross-boundary traffic to Lo Wu and Lok Ma Chau fell to 55.4 million for the six months to June 30, 2016.

The company noted, “The decline was due to a fall in visitor arrivals from the mainland of China”.

Airport Express passenger numbers increased by 2.7 per cent to 7.8 million, as a result of a moderate increase in air passenger traffic, the MTR Corp said.
